Ministry issues pesticide alert: "B-Prescription" initiative to combat the danger that reaches tables! A new era in agriculture: Those pesticides will be sold with a prescription...

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has taken action to address the threat of pesticides reaching our tables. To address the frequent customs returns due to chemical residue detected in export products, pesticides will now be sold with a prescription.
With the “B-Prescription” (Plant Prescription) application, drug use will be strictly controlled, food safety and human health will be protected.
According to a Bloomberg report, pesticide residues recently detected in products shipped to Europe have led to returns to Türkiye. Following this, the Ministry has decided to launch the "B-Prescription" (Plant Prescription) program to control pesticide use.
The new system will prevent producers from purchasing pesticides unrestrictedly from retailers. The exact plant, area, and dosage will be predetermined and prescribeable. This will prevent overuse of pesticides, increase food safety, and protect the environment and human health.
The Ministry has completed preparations for the B-Prescription system. The system will first be implemented in pilot regions and then expanded across Türkiye in 2026.
The system will cover all stages, from drug prescription to field use and harvesting. This will strengthen oversight by recording producers and the amount of medication used.
